Where is peace? I take moments of quiet and know that I need God's peace and God's peace is not out there in the world. More than any previous time of people on earth, we are in and are surrounded worldwide by multi-crises which are threatening our very existence.
Turning inward to listen to God's message, I sit silently, quieting my mind, and turn to scriptures that speak to me.
Psalm 34:14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Journal. I open my journal and write the scripture, then I start writing free flow, not paying attention to spelling, grammar or sentence structure. I write in prayer form, I'm addressing the Beloved Creator. My words might be something like this: Lord, I do not think of myself as doing evil. How am I to understand this scripture in who I am and what I do? Am I somehow responsible for evil being done? How am I to seek peace and pursue it? Open my eyes and my heart to your peace.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Journal. After writing the scripture, I write in prayer form. My prayer might be something like the following. Jesus, I am weary and I need rest. Let me feel your gentle love and peace in my heart. My life and the world is troubled. Teach me the ways that I may know peace.
John 14:27 Peace I leave you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the word gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Journal. Write the scripture, then write in prayer form. Let your prayer be free flowing. Your prayer might be something like this - Lord, I am afraid and troubled, very troubled. How can this all be sorted out? Please let your peace be my peace and guide me into the ways of living peace.
Philippians 4:9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me - put into practice. And the God of of peace will be with you.
Journal. After the scripture, write your prayer as the words come to you.
Blessings and Peace be with you. Amen
